Heritage Launch Free Irish Language Children's book
Heritage CU Launch Irish Language Children’s book for International Credit Union Day
As part of the celebration of International Credit Union Day on Thursday October 20th, Heritage Credit Union were proud to collaborate on the launch of the Irish language edition of the children’s book Frankie the Fly.
Heritage Credit Union collaborated with the author and his team, to celebrate our heritage and the Irish language.
The book Frankie the Fly was originally authored in English by local Brian Farrelly and wonderfully illustrated by Kevin T Quin, a project which aimed to raise funds for the LauraLynn charity during Covid lockdowns.
Following the success of the English language version, Brian’s mother Lily started a wonderful project of her own to translate the book into the Irish language, a great passion of hers and with the support and guidance of the renowned Irish professor Alan Titley, achieved her ambition to see a new Irish language book brought to fruition.
When the Author Brian approached us with a request to collaborate with him, to distribute this wonderful book and help promote the Irish language we were only delighted to be asked. All their hard work culminated in the official launch last night at the Credit Union’s office in Rathfarnham main street. You can see the pride at this great achievement in the faces of all those involved. A thank you also goes to Claire Kelly for the reading on the night.
The Credit Union will be making over 1000 copies of the Irish language edition available for free across our community in the coming week.
We are delighted to support this community project as it both promotes the Irish language and helps to raise funds for LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice.
