Going back to college can look very different at postgraduate level. You might be moving straight from an undergraduate degree into a master’s, returning to education after several years at work or studying part-time while continuing in your current job.
Whatever route you’re taking, it’s worth looking at the complete financial picture before you enrol. Course fees are likely to be the biggest expense, but depending on how and where you study, you may also need to budget for travel, accommodation, books, equipment and everyday living costs.
Having a clear idea of those costs (and what you can cover through savings, grants or other supports) can help you work out how much additional funding you might need.
How Much Does a Postgraduate Course Cost in Ireland?
Postgraduate fees can vary considerably depending on the qualification, institution, subject and whether you're studying full-time or part-time.
A one-year taught master’s will have a very different cost structure from a multi-year programme, while specialist courses such as business, technology or professional qualifications may have higher fees.
When setting your budget, consider:

Are There Grants for Postgraduate Study in Ireland?
Depending on your circumstances and the course you're taking, financial support may be available towards postgraduate study.
For example, postgraduate students may qualify for support through SUSI, subject to eligibility requirements. Individual universities, colleges and other organisations may also offer scholarships, bursaries or other funding for particular courses or students.
Eligibility and funding arrangements can change, so check the latest information directly with SUSI and your chosen institution before applying for finance.
If a grant or scholarship only covers part of your costs, an Education Loan could potentially help with the remaining amount.
